What it is actually for

The officer is testing whether the trip you describe is one you could and would take. A day-by-day plan makes that concrete: where you are on which date, how you get between cities, what the whole thing costs.

It is also the fastest way to fail. A fortnight of itinerary against a week of approved leave, or a plan whose flights and hotels total more than your available funds, is a contradiction that no cover letter fixes.

Reservations, not purchased tickets

Most missions do not want you to buy non-refundable tickets before a decision, and several explicitly say so. What they want is a verifiable reservation: a real booking with a real reference that can be checked, held rather than paid for.

The industry around "dummy tickets" sells PDFs with reference numbers that fail verification, and a failed check is far worse than a modest booking fee. We use reservations that are genuinely held and genuinely verifiable, and we tell you which ones you should not pay for until the visa is issued.

Keeping it consistent with the rest of the file

• Trip length inside your approved leave, with the leave letter matching the dates.
• Total cost comfortably inside your evidenced funds, with a margin rather than to the last rupee.
• For Schengen, a route that puts your main destination in the country you are applying to.
• Accommodation covering every night, including the ones in transit.
• Where you are visiting someone, the itinerary and the invitation describing the same visit.

Multi-country trips

A trip crossing several countries needs its internal travel evidenced too — trains, buses, internal flights. A file that shows you in Rome on the 4th and Barcelona on the 5th with nothing in between reads as unplanned, which is precisely what the itinerary was supposed to disprove.
