EMGS and the VAL

After accepting an offer, your institution submits your application to Education Malaysia Global Services. EMGS runs the checks — academic verification, medical screening, security clearance — and on approval issues a Visa Approval Letter.

You cannot travel on the offer letter alone. The VAL is what the airline and immigration expect, and its processing time is the real constraint on your start date, not the university's admission decision.

Then the single-entry visa

• With the VAL you obtain a single-entry visa from the Malaysian mission in Pakistan before departure.
• On arrival you undergo a post-arrival medical screening within the required period.
• Your institution then submits your passport for the student pass to be endorsed.
• The student pass is renewed annually through the institution for the length of the programme.

Why students choose Malaysia

Tuition and living costs are considerably lower than in Western destinations, English-taught programmes are the norm rather than the exception, and several British and Australian universities operate branch campuses awarding the parent institution's degree.

For Pakistani students the cultural and dietary adjustment is also smaller than for most alternatives, which is a real factor for younger undergraduates travelling alone for the first time.

What to verify

Check the institution's standing with the Malaysian Qualifications Agency and confirm the programme itself is accredited. The branch-campus market is legitimate but it sits alongside a long tail of weaker private colleges, and the difference is not always visible from the marketing.
