Test preparation teaches you a format. If the underlying English is not there yet, format practice has very little to work with — and that is what a course is for.
Course before test, sometimes
There is a threshold below which IELTS or PTE coaching is not a good use of your money. If you are around A2 and the requirement is a 6.5, no amount of technique closes that gap — you need the language first, then the format.
We assess honestly at the start and say which of the two you actually need. Selling test prep to someone who needs a course is a way to have them fail an expensive exam twice.
General versus academic English
- General English: everyday fluency, listening in real conversation, confidence speaking without rehearsing.
- Academic English: essay structure, argument, reading dense text at pace, referencing conventions.
- Both matter for a student going abroad — the seminar and the supermarket are different languages in practice.
- Levels run on the CEFR ladder, so your progress is stated in terms a Europass CV or a university can read.
Speaking is the bottleneck
Most Pakistani applicants have far more English than they can deploy in conversation — years of reading and formal instruction, very little unrehearsed speaking. The gap between comprehension and production is the single biggest thing holding scores down.
Courses are built around speaking time for that reason, rather than around more grammar explanation of rules you already know.
