Choosing the right entry route

Malaysia offers more than one way in, and they are not interchangeable. There is a full online tourist visa, and a lighter registration route with tighter conditions on length of stay, itinerary and where you fly from. Which one applies to you depends on your travel plan, not your preference.

Applicants regularly pick the cheaper route, then find their itinerary does not qualify and lose both the fee and the booking window. We check the route against your actual flights before anything is filed.

What the online application needs

• A passport with sufficient remaining validity and clear scans of the bio page.
• A photograph meeting the portal's specification — the most common cause of a rejected submission.
• Confirmed return or onward flights, and accommodation for the stay.
• Proof of funds for the length of the trip.
• Accurate personal and employment details matching your passport and supporting documents exactly.

The arrival card

Separately from the visa, travellers to Malaysia must submit a digital arrival card shortly before departure. It is free, it takes minutes, and it is not optional — passengers have been turned back at check-in for arriving without it. We flag the window and confirm it is filed.
