The order of operations

The sequence is fixed and cannot be shortcut. Complete and submit the DS-160 first, because its confirmation number is needed to create the appointment. Create the profile on the official appointment service, pay the MRV fee through an accepted method, and only then does the scheduling calendar open to you.

Applicants routinely pay the fee against the wrong profile, or start scheduling before the DS-160 is submitted, and lose a week to an avoidable correction. Setting this up cleanly is most of what the service is.

Earlier dates do appear

Capacity is released and cancellations happen, so the first date the system offers you is rarely the best one available over the following weeks. We take the earliest slot on offer as a floor, then watch for something sooner and rebook if it appears.

This is done by checking, not by automation. Scripted booking tools violate the terms of the appointment system and get accounts suspended — which costs the applicant their existing slot as well as the new one.

Interview waiver — check before you queue

Some renewal applicants can submit without appearing for an interview. Eligibility turns on the class of your previous visa and how long ago it expired, and the rules have been tightened more than once, so a colleague's recent experience is not a reliable guide.

It is worth confirming before you join an interview queue, because the two routes have completely different lead times. We check eligibility against your specific visa history as the first step.

Expedited appointments

An expedite request is a formal application with evidence attached, decided by the embassy. Genuine medical emergencies, a death or serious illness in the immediate family, and unavoidable, documented business or study dates are the grounds that succeed.

A request without documents behind it is refused, and refused requests do not improve your position. Where you qualify, we prepare the submission properly; where you do not, we say so and put the effort into the file instead.
